Dubai Metro Blue Line tunnel boring reaches Mirdif segment
RTA confirms tunnel boring machines have completed the first 4.3 km of the Mirdif–Al Khawaneej corridor ahead of the 2029 commissioning target.

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority said two tunnel boring machines, named Hessa and Fareeja, completed the first 4.3 kilometres of the Blue Line corridor this week, putting the project on track for revenue service by the second quarter of 2029.
The Blue Line will add 30 kilometres of track and 14 stations, connecting the Mirdif, Al Khawaneej and Dubai Silicon Oasis catchments to the existing Red and Green Lines. Officials project that daily ridership across the network will rise above 1.6 million journeys once the line opens.
Residents in Mirdif told reporters they were following the works with cautious enthusiasm, citing reduced commute times to Downtown Dubai as the main draw.
